Term 3 Week 4 – Friday, 15th August 2025
Principal’s Report
Education Week
What a wonderful day was had by all last week. We celebrated public education by opening our classrooms for parents to come and see the wonderful work being done in our school especially in innovation. The theme was Ignite your Potential.
We had a wonderful assembly with great performances from our students and announced the winners of our Art competition. We also had a variety of food trucks which gave us lots of different things to buy and try.
A big thankyou to all teachers for the extra work done for this special day!
Year 1 Phonics Testing
This week we begin the Department of Education Phonics testing for all Year 1 students. The information gathered will assist in developing individual plans to support students who require further help with phonics later in the year.
Author Visit
This week we are having an author visit to excite us before next week’s book parade as part of Book Week. What book character will your children dress up as on Thursday, 21st August.
Science Week
This week is Science week; all our classes will be conducting a variety experiment and attending a special Science show. A big thankyou to Mrs Kimura for all her organization.
Daffodil Day
On Friday, 29th August the SRC will be organizing a fundraiser for the Cancer Council. It is called Daffodil Day, and they will be encouraging everyone to wear yellow and make a gold coin donation which will be donated back to the Cancer Council. This is such an important charity so please find something yellow to wear and participate in this event!
Kindergarten 2026.
If you have a child who will be 5 by the 31st July, 2026 and you live within our local area, please call into the school to complete enrolment information. Proof of address is required. If you have a neighbour who has a child ready for school, please let them know about enrolling their child for 2026.
School Hats
I would like all children to wear a school hat. Hats can be purchased at the office, or uniform shop for a reasonable price. Please assist by having your child wear a school hat.
Student Assistance
If you require any support with uniforms or the costs of excursions, please do not hesitate to contact either Ms. N Pritchard or myself for assistance.
Swim Program
I know our Swim Program is coming up soon and some parents have spoken to me about the cost, but it is much cheaper than other places are offering!
We have already reduced the cost considerably. We are not sure if we will be able to offer Swimming next year at such a reduced price, so don’t miss out this year!
Parents are encouraged to try and pay a small amount each week. If parents need an extension into Term 4 to complete payment, then this can be arranged. All it will take is a few dollars each week!
Being able to swim in this country is so important!
Zone Athletics
This week 40 of our students are representing our school at the zone athletics carnival. They will be representing our school with pride. We know they will display great sportsmanship on the day and wish them well. A big thank you to our staff who will be supervising them.

Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Uniform shop
Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.
School Hats
Students are being encouraged to wear the school hat. Please do not encourage your child to wear any other hat to school other than the school hat.
School hats are available at the school office and the uniform shop, the cost is $12.00 for caps and bucket hats.
Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.

PBL – Positive Behaviour for Learning
The PBL focus for the next couple of weeks is around being in the right place at the right time. This focus has to do with personal safety. Students will participate in PBL lessons that will allow them to develop their knowledge and understanding of what it means to be in the right place at the right time. Being in the right place means students are playing in the appropriate playground spaces at lunch and recess and not being in the out of bounds areas marked by the red line. Being at the right time refers to going to class lines when the bell rings and using the toilets at the end of break times, instead of during learning time.
It is always great seeing students staying safe by being in the right place at the right time. Keep up the great work, Auburn!

Road Safety around Our School – GO 40 FOR ME!
Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
