Road Safety
Please talk to your child about the dangers associated with crossing the road. Our School Policy about crossing between the sites is as follows.
Rationale
Auburn Public School is situated on two sites, the corners of Auburn Rd and Beatrice St. To ensure maximum use of resources for all students, regardless of the site of the home base classroom for the student is located, movement between the two sites will occur on a regular basis.
No student at any time will move between the two sites without supervision from a staff member.
Students will move between the two sites for school activities such as- library, assemblies, sport, performances, fun days, various curriculum activities.
Procedures
- Students will arrive at school and enter the site for which they will commence the school day.
- Once students enter a school site, they are not permitted to leave this site unless supervised by a staff member of Auburn Public School.
- Students who are on the alternate site at 3.00pm from their home base classroom will be dismissed from that site.
Parents
- Will be informed by the teacher of the class timetable, which will outline what site their child should arrive and depart from daily.
- Asked to support the class teacher by ensuring their child is aware of the site their child should depart from daily.
- For younger children, ensure their child enters the correct site in the morning and arrive at school on time to collect their child from the correct site.

Stage 1 Collaborative artwork
This week, our Stage 1 students took part in a range of meaningful activities to celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2025. The week was an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.
Throughout the week, students engaged in thoughtful discussions and listened to stories about what reconciliation means. They explored how the arrival of European people in Australia impacted Aboriginal communities.
Students expressed their reflections and understanding through poetry about healing, unity and hope for the future. A highlight of the week was the creation of a collaborative artwork. This powerful piece represents the strength and endurance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, acknowledging their ability to thrive through adversity. Inspired by the 2025 theme — Bridging Now to Next" — the artwork features natural elements to symbolise regeneration and resilience. Just as nature can restore itself after fire, so too can communities heal and grow stronger over time.
Students will also have an opportunity to play in a variety of Indigenous Games next week. We are incredibly proud of the students’ participation and the respect they demonstrated throughout the week. Their creativity and compassion reflect our shared commitment to walking together on the path of reconciliation.

Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.

PBL – Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
Auburn Public School follows a Positive Behaviour for Learning program and each week the students are clearly taught the skills they need for learning and positive interactions with others. Evidence shows that tasks and activities are completed more successfully if the expected behaviours are presented before the task and then reinforced with praise (for students who follow the behaviour).
In recent weeks students have been learning about ‘Game Rules’. At Auburn, our students love to play sport and games at lunch time with their friends, but they may have different ideas about HOW to play the game. These lessons help students to make sure they understand and agree to the rules before they play to avoid arguments and problems later. It is an important skill to be able to explain the important rules of a game and to be able to accept different ideas for how a game should be played. Students are also learning about ‘playing fair’. Students play team games in class and try to observe for any cheating behaviours. We think about how to resolve a cheating problem and helping everyone to understand that playing ‘fair’ helps us have more fun than always winning. Please take some time this week to play games with your children and to discuss their attitudes to winning, losing and cheating.

Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
