Farewell Ms Haddad
Ms L Haddad had her last day at Auburn Public School last week as she was successful in gaining a transfer to King Park Public School in the Fairfield area. She has been at our school for nearly 10 years and has taught all classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 as well as being a Reading Recovery teacher. Her other very important role has been to be our Technology Mentor where she has done outstanding work in improving the access for all students to utilize computers in every classroom with fast networked internet. Her support to all students and staff to improve their technology skills have had a real impact at our school.
We wish Ms L Haddad well in her new school and thank her for her great contributions to Auburn Public School. We will miss her very much!
We welcome back Ms B Harmer who will be teaching 1/2H for the rest of the year!
Child Protection Lessons
This term we will be teaching our mandatory Child Protection lessons as part of our PDHPE syllabus. All content is taught in an age appropriate, respectful and sensitive way.
If you have any questions about these lessons, please speak to Ms Pritchard or myself.
School Uniforms
Congratulations to the many children coming to school in uniform. Please be aware I encourage children to wear their complete school uniform. Children should come to school each day in the correct uniform which does not include different coloured jumpers or track suit pants. Also, I encourage children to wear an Auburn PS hat.
Children will not be allowed to roll up their track suit pants or write all over their hats. The only writing acceptable on the hat is their name and it is to be on the inside.
I want the children to wear their uniform with pride and respect which is what the uniform stands for. Auburn is a great school, and I want the general public to recognise this!
P & C Meeting
Thank you to the parents who came to our last P & C Meeting. They had the opportunity to hear about all the things happening in our school.
Our next P & C Meeting will be held on a Thursday very soon at 9.15am am in the Kindergarten Hall
Hope to see many parents at this meeting!
School Hats
I would like all children to wear a school hat. Hats can be purchased at the office for a reasonable price. There are now some more hat options available! Please assist by having your child wear a school hat.
Student Assistance
If you require any support with uniforms or the costs of excursions, please do not hesitate to contact either, Mrs N Pritchard or myself for assistance.
ANZAC Service
Last term our captains presented a wonderful ANZAC service to the school. All our students were extremely respectful during the service and our captains and prefects did an outstanding job. Thanks to Ms J Campbell and Ms K Ryan for their great organization of this important event.
School Spectacular Choir Rehearsals
Rehearsals have begun for our choir to prepare for the School Spectacular to sing on the stage of the Sydney Opera House later this year. This is a wonderful, and special event for our whole school community. Many thanks to Mr Baker and Mrs Mo’ungatonga for their time in preparing our students for this performance.
Walk Safely to School Day
Walk Safely to school is quickly approaching. Please take the opportunity if you can, to walk to school with your children on this day. It is a chance to remind children of how to walk safely around roads, traffic, pedestrians and traffic lights to build their knowledge and prepare them for walking to places on their own as they get older. It can be a great experience for the family to do it together!

Essentials

School Bytes
All payments and permission notes for any school activity are now received by email via School Bytes. It is important that you have your updated email address on file at the school. If you have changed your email address or phone number, please ensure you have updated these details with the school office.
Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Uniform shop
Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.
School Hats
Students are being encouraged to wear the school hat. Please do not encourage your child to wear any other hat to school other than the school hat.
School hats are available at the school office and the uniform shop, the cost is $12.00 for caps and bucket hats.
Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.

PBL – Positive Behaviour for Learning
Auburn Public School has been actively participating in the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. This initiative focuses on explicitly teaching students how to make positive choices both in the classroom and in the playground.
Over the past two weeks, students from Kindergarten to Year 6 have been learning about the core concept of Communication, with an emphasis on Manners.
Through targeted lessons, students have been developing a range of communication skills, including how to express their needs and wants using both verbal and non-verbal manners.
They are learning to communicate effectively by sharing their opinions respectfully, listening attentively, and responding appropriately to others. As students strengthen these communication skills, they are also building the foundation for positive and responsible relationships with their peers, teachers, and visitors—both within Auburn Public School and in the wider community.

Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
