Term 1 Week 11 - Thursday, 10th April 2025
Principal’s Report

Farewell!
We have some staff who are leaving us at the end of the term.
Mrs Bakhtiari has taught at our school for a few years especially with kindergarten. It is a very exciting time for her as she prepares to have her first baby. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Congratulations.
Mr Cannons is retiring at the end of term. He has been at Auburn Public School for many years. He has taught most grades; he has also been a Reading Recovery teacher and a Maths Mentor. Perhaps many will remember him as Captain Good choice our PBL mascot! We wish him all the best as he embarks on the next stage of his life.
Refurbishment of the main building on the 3-6site
I am pleased to say work is well on the way with the improvements inside! Hopefully very early in Term 2 we will have a freshly painted main administration block and upgraded staff amenities.
Uniform Shop
Our Uniform Shop is doing well. Thank you to our families who support the shop. Remember it is the only place you can purchase the correct uniform for our school.
Thank you to Ms Ambreen who does an amazing job keeping this operational to service our school community
Water Bottles!
Teachers are encouraging all children to bring a water bottle to school filled with fresh water to drink throughout the day. Water is kept on their desks, and they are free to drink as needed!
Healthy Snack Time …. Crunch and Sip!
Teachers are also encouraging children to bring a piece of fruit to snack on at a special time in class throughout the day. This may be a time when the children are listening to a story or completing some work quietly. It is designed to encourage healthy eating habits!
School Hats
I would like all children to wear a school hat. Hats can be purchased at the office for a reasonable price. Please assist by having your child wear a school hat.
School hats are available at the school office and the uniform shop, the cost is $12.00 for caps and bucket hats.
Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.

Black School Shoes
Over the holiday break if you are buying new school shoes, please make sure they are black. Black running shoes are acceptable but black leather school shoes are more favored.
Student Assistance
If you require any support with uniforms or the costs of excursions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. N Pritchard or myself for assistance.
Mother’s Day Stall
Early next term the P&C are holding a Mother’s Day stall. All classes will get the chance to visit and purchase something special. Please keep your eye out on School Bytes for more details after the holidays.
Allergies
We have a few children in our school who are highly allergic to any form of nuts.
We would appreciate you talking to your child about not sharing their food at school for this reason.
If you could avoid sending any food containing nuts, it would be very much appreciated!
Happy Easter
For those of our families who celebrate Easter, enjoy the festivities. For our other families, enjoy a well-earned holiday break.
I look forward to seeing everyone again for another busy Term 2
Last Day for Term 1; Friday 11th April 2025
Students return for Term 2; Wednesday, 30th April 2025

Essentials

School Bytes
All payments and permission notes for any school activity are now received by email via School Bytes. It is important that you have your updated email address on file at the school. If you have changed your email address or phone number, please ensure you have updated these details with the school office.
Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Uniform shop
Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.
Kindergarten 2026
If you have a child who will be 5 years old by 31st, July 2025 who is ready for school and you live within our local area, please call into the school to complete an enrolment form or complete the online enrolment form which can be access from our school website. Proof of address is required. If you have a neighbour who has a child ready for school, please let them know about enrolling their child for 2026. Information about our preschool Starting School Well program will be available for all families who have enrolled their child at Auburn Public School for the 2026.

PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
Green Slip Day at Auburn Public School
At Auburn Public School, we are excited to celebrate Green Slip Day, a special event recognizing students who have demonstrated positive choices throughout the term. This celebration acknowledges responsible behaviour and encourages a supportive and motivating school environment.
Students will be awarded a certificate and enjoy participating in special activities to celebrate their success, both in the classroom and on the playground. This term, Green Slip Day will be held on Thursday, 10th April 2025, from 11:50 AM to 1:50 PM for ES1, S1, S2, S3, and SU students.
We look forward to celebrating their achievements!

Road Safety around Our School – GO 40 FOR ME!
Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
