Harmony Day
Harmony Day celebrations will take place at school very soon. It will be a wonderful time…Thursday, 20th March 2025 is the day we are encouraging all children to wear orange, there will be a full assembly at 12.15pm in the James waters Hall with singing and class items and we hope many parents can attend and join us to celebrate Everyone Belongs and salute our cultural diversity.
As a school we will be engaging in special activities during the week, and I will be presenting very special Principal Excellence awards at the assembly
Keep looking in your children’s schoolbag and on our electronic signs for more information
See you there!
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing begins shortly for all eligible students in Years 3 and 5. The school coordinator for this program is Mrs C Kimura. If you have any questions, please have a discussion with her.
It is very important whilst this testing takes place that all children involved are at school on time, please also try to ensure they get a good night’s sleep before testing days.
P & C
It was wonderful to see so many parents at our first P&C meeting recently. These meetings are an opportunity to come along and hear about the things happening in our school. It is also an opportunity to ask questions or raise any concerns you might have. Translators are always available.
We hope to see you at our next meeting coming soon!
School Uniforms
A reminder to all families, that we encourage children at this school to be in full school uniform. This includes a school hat and black school shoes.
If parents need some financial support with uniforms, please come and see me.
School Calendar
Later in the newsletter is there is a calendar of events for Term 1.
Ibis Birds
At the moment we have many Ibis birds on the K-2 site who are calling our school home. Please be assured we are working with National Parks and Wildlife Rangers to work on moving the birds away from our school and I will keep you informed as to our progress. The new garbage bins have made a great improvement. I encourage everyone to use the bins in our playgrounds as they help to keep the birds away because they cannot find food to eat!
SRC Training Day
SRC Training Day is quickly approaching. This worthwhile program offers elected students Years 2-6 the opportunity to be trained in leadership and to then add student voice to our school. To all students who have been selected to these positions “Congratulations” and enjoy your training day!
Upcoming Events
We have lots of special events coming up so please keep a look out for notes, emails and messages of what’s on when!
Some include:
Teacher Meet and Greet, Harmony Day, P&C meetings, Student Leadership days, Greenslip Reward days, Easter activities just to name a few

School Bytes
All payments and permission notes for any school activity are now received by email via School Bytes. It is important that you have your updated email address on file at the school.
Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Uniform shop
Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.
School Hats
Students are being encouraged to wear the school hat. Please do not encourage your child to wear any other hat to school other than the school hat.
School hats are available at the school office and the uniform shop, the cost is $12.00 for caps and bucket hats.
Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.

PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
Concept: Problem Solving Key Idea: Anti-Bullying
Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 have been focusing on the core concept of problem-solving and the key idea of anti-bullying as part of our PBL program over the past few weeks. It’s important that our students build and demonstrate positive relationships with their peers, teachers, and other adults they interact with.
Through lessons, students have been learning various problem-solving strategies, discussing ways to resolve issues, and selecting the most suitable solutions. They’ve also been talking about emotions and how positive actions towards others can strengthen relationships. In addition, students have participated in games that encourage healthy cooperation, helping them understand how this contributes to positive interactions.
We encourage you to continue discussing these important skills with your children, emphasising the value of problem-solving and positive interactions with teachers, fellow students, and visitors at Auburn Public School, as well as in the wider community.
Don’t forget to check the next newsletter for more information on our upcoming key idea. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our Positive Behaviour for Learning program.

Road Safety around Our School – GO 40 FOR ME!
Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
