Principal’s Report

Welcome
Welcome to Auburn Public School for 2025.
It is wonderful to see so many familiar faces returning and lots of new families joining us this year. We have a great year planned with a focus on quality explicit teaching ensuring every day your child comes home excited about something new they have learned.
Enrolment for 2025
Welcome back for another amazing year of learning at Auburn Public School. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and lots of new faces as well. A very special welcome to all our new families who have just joined our school!
Enrolment for 2025 has been positive with nearly 80 kindergarten students commencing at our school, giving us a total enrolment K-6 of about 500.
Because of the changes to student numbers in some grades, a rearrangement of some classes may occur.
School Uniforms
A reminder to all families, that we encourage children at this school to be in full school uniform. This includes a school hat and black school shoes.
If parents need some financial support with uniforms, please come and see me.
School Calendar
Later in the newsletter there is a calendar of events for Term 1.
Ibis Birds
At the moment we have many Ibis birds on the K-2 site who are calling our school home. Please be assured we are working with National Parks and Wildlife Rangers to work on moving the birds away from our school and I will keep you informed as to our progress. The new garbage bins have made a great improvement. I encourage everyone to use the bins in our playgrounds as they help to keep the birds away because they cannot find food to eat!
Upcoming Events
We have lots of special events coming up so please keep a look out for notes, emails and messages of what’s on when!
Some include –
Teacher Meet and Greet, Harmony Day, P&C meetings, Student Leadership days, Easter activities just to name a few
Teacher Meet and Greet
Our Teacher Meet and Greet afternoon will be occurring on Tuesday, 4th March from 3.10pm. It is a great opportunity to learn about our school programs and to have a chat with the teachers.
Further details will be available soon so pencil this date in your diaries.
Our Newsletter
We hope you are enjoying our newsletter. We are very excited to be able to provide you with a newsletter that with the press of a button on your phone you can translate into any language!
Many thanks for your continued support!
Finally, if you have any concerns, please feel free to come to the school and have a chat with me or Ms N Pritchard. We would be pleased to help as we want to ensure that Auburn Public School is a positive, happy place to be and to encourage all our students to reach their full potential

Essentials

School Bytes
All payments and permission notes for any school activity are now received by email via School Bytes. It is important that you have your updated email address on file at the school.
Staying Well, Staying Safe with Water bottles
Metal water bottles can be a safety hazard in the playground if one is accidently dropped onto toes but staying hydrated is important to keep our brain in top condition for all the playing and learning, too. Please bring plastic water bottles to school to ensure the safety of our students.

Uniform shop
Our uniform shop is on the K-2 site and is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:30am - 9:30am, we only accept cash.
School Hats
Students are being encouraged to wear the school hat. Please do not encourage your child to wear any other hat to school other than the school hat.
School hats are available at the school office and the uniform shop, the cost is $12.00 for caps and bucket hats.
Thank you for your co-operation on this important matter.

PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL - Positive Behaviour for Learning
Auburn Public School has been participating in the evidence based PBL (Positive Behaviour Learning) program for many years. This program focuses on teaching all students clearly and explicitly how we want them to behave. The students have started the year learning about our school rules of ‘Being Respectful’, ‘Being Safe’ and ‘Being Active Learners’. The students will be involved in one lesson each week, which cover a range of core concepts including: Problem Solving, Communication, Game Rules, Personal Safety, Leadership and Environmental Awareness.
Currently we are focusing on the core concept of Problem Solving. The students are learning about the various problem-solving skills and strategies that they can use both within the classroom and on the playground. The key ideas being covered in this area are anti-bullying and using words to solve problems. The children are involved in a range of interactive and hands on lessons to gain a thorough understanding of how to improve their personal problem-solving skills. Please take the time to discuss this learning area with your child and talk to them about how they solve their problems and which strategies they use. In each fortnightly newsletter you will read about the next area the children have learnt about and the wonderful program that we have operating at our school.

Road Safety around Our School – GO 40 FOR ME!
Parents please be aware of the road rules around school for the safety of our students and whole school community. We have had a number of parents disobeying these road rules. The Council has been seen around the school fining people for not following these rules. These fines are the responsibility of the parents and not the school. For the safety of everyone please BE AWARE, BE SAFE and SLOW DOWN! The speed limit around schools is 40.
